The greenback was also supported by higher US 10-year Treasury yields after the release of US inflation data yesterday, an analyst said.

The ringgit was traded mostly lower against a basket of major currencies this morning.

At 9 am, the local note stood at 4.3915/3995 against the US dollar from 4.3950/4000 at Wednesday's close.

Diniz said that investors are beginning to wonder when the US Federal Reserve will change its monetary policy on interest rates.

Stephen Innes said the unexpectedly strong US economic data had triggered a minor reversal of sorts in broader US dollar sentiment.

The local note eased marginally to 4.7100/7150 against the US dollar from Wednesday's close of 4.6885/6950.
